Group Home Living

For people with developmental disabilities, transitioning to a group home setting is an exciting choice toward more independent living.  Choices by definition can involve risk; but at Easter Seals Arc, we work with men and women who have chosen group home living. The right residential setting is as important as deciding to live more independently.  Day visits or overnight stays to acquaint new residents with the routine can help make the right choice.

Care, guidance and supervision in a safe home atmosphere are provided 24 hours a day by trained, competent, nurturing staff.  Each group home is designed to accommodate between 5 and 8 persons with similar disabilities.  Individual plans are created with each resident including life goals in all developmental areas.  Training and support are provided to assist each person in reaching goals. We train the individual in the areas of communication, self-care, social integration and home living to increase their skills with an expectation of positive results.  Planning is closely monitored to maximize success.  Our goals in providing Residential Services are safety, greater self-esteem, independence, socialization and a spirit of cooperation in a family setting.
