Employment Services

When consumers are considering community jobs, Easter Seals Arc's Employment Services is an excellent resource.  These services focus on employment skills including personal hygiene, nutrition, interviewing and employment skills.  Easter Seals Arc staff assist the participant in developing those skills, researching employment and job training.  Once a position is secured, staff remain in contact with the consumer on a regular basis to ensure continued growth and development. 

Assessment

Consumers entering services through Easter Seals Arc's Production & Work Training Services or Employment Services go through an assessment process.  The process may include a skill checklist, trial placement on our supervised workshop floor, or it may include a computerized vocational evaluation as well as on the job evaluations (CBE's).

Employment Planning

Employment Planning is a classroom service; it provides the transition between doing sub-contract work in our facility and finding a job in the community.  Instructors focus on sharpening consumer's employment skills.  Classroom participants also have the opportunity for employment on our supervised janitorial and grounds maintenance work crews while earning minimum wage.

Job Development

Once assessments and planning have been completed, Easter Seals Arc staff are still there for the next step; employment that meets the individual consumer's needs.  Our job development assistants work closely with the participants to coordinate their transportation arrangements, child care (if necessary), physical needs and advocates to potential employers for those requirements.

Job Coaching

Once a consumer is employed, an Easter Seals Arc coach works directly with them on the job, assisting with the routine of tasks and advocating for any needs that may arise on the side of the consumer.  Job coaches stay involved with the participant for as long as needed to reach a comfortable level of success.
